Robyn Neild has worked as an international fashion illustrator for the past twenty years working for clients ranging from Givenchy, Vivienne Westwood, Elizabeth Arden, Barnes & Noble and United Airlines. Her illustrations have graced the pages of the fashion magazines Vogue, Elle, Glamour, Harper’s Bazaar and Tatler and for the luxury London stores Liberty and Harrods. This series of limited edition and unique sculptures cast in bronze focus on the couture fashion of Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Chanel, Christian Dior, Richard Quinn and Gareth Pugh. The work documents a traditional approach via the tactile manipulation of modelling wax, called the ‘lost wax technique’ as well as exploring the patina and finish of the bronze. The sculptures playfully investigate a timeless yet fashionable female form, how clothing can add emphasis or distort the viewers eye in a fluid, textural visual language, through contemplative posing and within the throes of natural movement.
